How we got started . . .

5.FUN LLC was fully born when Jocelyn & Elisabeth were out climbing the Dells on a lovely Prescott day. While the two make it a tenacious habit to climb, neither one is particularly concerned with the Yosemite Decimal Rating System of the climbs they attempt (the system is based upon a rating of 5 and then broken down into decimals, 5.5 up to 5.16). They merely look for a route that is challenging and fun. As with any sport, just as in education, there is always competition along with constant questions of skill, level and achievement. When asked what a climb is rated by other climbers, Jocelyn and Elisabeth have devised their own ratings; a climb can be rated anywhere  from 5.FUN to 5.HOLYCOW to 5.WHOOOAAAA.

The concept of bringing movement, brain-based learning into schools had been brewing in Jocelyn's mind her entire teaching career. Seeing the immense need for hands-on, STEM based experiences Jocelyn always dreamt of ways to incorporate it into her daily classroom life. It wasn't until she started adventuring with Elisabeth that she realized this idea could blossom into an important and impactful endeavor.

Because the two are constantly looking for learning experiences and fun in nature, they saw a need for a brain-based, movement oriented, STEM focused curriculum program for the schools. Knowing that there is an extreme amount of pressure and gobs of expectations placed upon the schools, Jocelyn and Elisabeth wanted to develop & provide a standards-based but fun movement curriculum to students. By utilizing their years of experience teaching and working in the outdoors, they have established 5.FUN.
